The Azure SMB team is passionate about cloud technologies and the opportunities it creates for small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs). We work closely with Azure product PMMs, as well as sales, finance, and other teams to create, optimize and adopt marketing campaigns, solution plays, go to market strategies, customer programs and tools that support the strategic priorities of the Azure business. We strive to translate product complexities into actionable scale engines and go-to-market execution worldwide.

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Product Marketing Manager - Azure SMB Marketing (Direct Channel) to lead product marketing efforts for the Azure Direct channel business. This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape the Azure customer web and onboarding journey, develop strategies grounded in data and competitive insights, and collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for cloud technologies and SMB customers, along with the ability to translate complex product capabilities into clear, actionable marketing strategies.

This role is flexible in that you can work up to 50% from home.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 3+ years experience in business
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 5+ years experience in business
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience working in sales enablement, product marketing, or commercial technology businesses with 10k+ customers
  • 3+ years experience working in product marketing, sales, or sales enablement roles specifically focused on small and mid-sized business (SMB) customers.
  • Effective communication skills, written and verbal. With the ability to communicate across all levels of an organization -- including with executives -- with actionable clarity and transparency.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in business
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 8+ years experience in business OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years experience with data-driven analysis and interpretation. Including experience with analyzing sales, marketing campaign, and usage data to uncover insights and next priority actions to drive the business forward. Demonstrated examples of using data to identify problem areas or opportunities within and across organizational boundaries.
  • 3+ years’ experience with web acquisition, onboarding, and relationship marketing for cloud based consumption businesses.
  • Experience using intellectual curiosity and critical thinking to break through team hurdles, create new opportunities, and understand root cause.
  • Effective collaborator on multi-faceted issues that span multiple groups, with the ability to forge relationships that drive results.
  • Experience influencing others to deliver desired business outcome by moving others across organizational boundaries and taking ownership of issues without a clear owner.

Product Marketing IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the Azure discover/try/buy journey and collaborate with acquisition and experiences team to develop data-driven insights that inform and test new paths to increase conversion, retention and upsell rates.

  • Refine Azure Direct audience segmentation and targeting strategy by defining granular personas based on research and market insights. Partner with integrated marketing team to craft tailored messaging for each stage of the Discover/Try/Buy journey.

  • Develop competitive insights to inform marketing and sales strategy by analyzing Azure’s market position among SMB customers, and identifying strengths and gaps relative to top competitors. Monitor feature and program developments across the competitive landscape and craft positioning statements, objection-handling guidance, and messaging to support field enablement and campaign execution.
  • Relationship Marketing: Gain an in-depth understanding of the current Relationship Marketing (RM) journeys for newly acquired Azure customers. Based on this understanding, recommend potential new marketing journeys aimed at improving customer retention rates and encouraging the adoption of additional Azure services.

  • Cross-Sell Strategy: Analyze customer purchasing patterns, conduct targeted research, and leverage insights from sellers to create and validate strategies for cross-selling within Azure and Microsoft Cloud solution areas. Partner with integrated marketing to test and implement strategies that maximize the lifetime value of customers and foster stronger integration across services.

  • Collaborate with the SME&C team to support Azure Direct sales team by aligning on strategic priorities and understanding key sales motions. Engage with business architects to identify key sales trends and determine the marketing assets and sales enablement resources required to support global SMB sales team focused on top SMB accounts.
