The goal of the Neurodiversity Hiring Program is to build a hiring approach that recognizes and embraces the strengths of Neurodiverse candidates. Neurodiversity encompasses a wide range of cognitive differences, such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia & dyscalculia.

As a Software Engineer, you’ll contribute to high-impact product areas such as Microsoft 365, Windows, SharePoint, and data analytics platforms. You’ll work on backend and fullstack systems, building scalable, secure, and reliable services that power experiences for hundreds of millions of users. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Eligible for the Neurodiversity Hiring Program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year(s) of technical engineering experience
    • OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Strong computer science fundamentals and analytical skills
  • Good communication and cross-team collaboration abilities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature.
  • Supports identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product feature with oversight.
  • With guidance, learns to create and implement code for a product, service, or feature reusing code as applicable.
  • Assists and learns about breaking down work items into tasks and provides estimation.
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions for simple problems, and recommends actions to restore system/product/service by following the playbook.
  • Reviews current developments and proactively seek new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
  • Creating prototypes and proof-of-concepts for iterative development.
