Overview

The Americas Sales Enablement & Operations (SE&O) team plays an essential role in translating Microsoft’s Commercial Strategy into a local execution plan and driving operational excellence to achieve the greatest results possible. Our team drives insight and execution excellence, bringing strategy and priorities to life by accelerating the pace of transformation and enabling Microsoft to deliver business impact on a scale.

We are looking to hire a Business Manager, Americas SE&O Security, who will partner closely with the Americas SE&O Security Leader to lead, manage, and develop the following strategic enterprise business management directives: budget management, compliance management and enforcement practices, headcount planning and management, project portfolio management and delivery. This team brings the WW strategy to life and drives operational excellence for the Americas Field with Product, Program, Segment and Datacenter Go To Market Managers and Technical Specialists, You will collaborate across teams to maintain left-to-right visibility, understand priorities, drive optimization, and align on expected value and outcomes.

To be successful, you will have the ability to work collaboratively and interface with internal stakeholders. You will also be building productive working relationships and accommodate the work styles and perspectives of diverse individuals. It will be important in this role to be able to take feedback and adapt to constantly changing environments, in addition to proactively sharing ideas that advance the business.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 8+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of global enterprise experience in any combination of the following: strategy and operations management, people governance, compliance, internal communications, Profit & Loss experience, scorecard management, or related.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience and proven ability to organize and support cross-business or other change programs
  • Leadership qualities and ability to coordinate physical and virtual resources; effective communication and presentation skills, good listener; ability to provide direction and clarity
  • Experience with prioritization frameworks, portfolio planning and release processes. Experience with working effectively with business enablement, operations and IT organizations.
  • Experience in leadership positions, including the ability to work closely with leadership and promote collaboration among cross-functional teams.

Business Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.

Responsibilities

Business Operations

Leads development and execution of the Business Applications team rhythm of business (ROB) including weekly LT meeting, All Together meetings, offsites, community meetings, etc. Provides direction for identifying and determining objectives to execute which are in alignment with the goals of the organization. Ensures adherence to privacy and compliance.

Executes business plans to ensure continuation of business operations at all times, including in adverse conditions, in accordance with corporate governance. Ensures checks and balances are in place for the team to ensure Microsoft's best interest with regard to strategic partnerships necessary for continuity of business.

Collaborates with internal stakeholders and Microsoft teams to oversee the creation and implementation of execution plans. Sets best practices for leveraging consolidated information, advocating for business cases, and presents cases to leader and business partners. Leads and oversees processes to ensure alignment across groups. Establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) in alignment with strategy to help streamline business strategy. Works with the organization to establish and report against targets and adjusts targets if necessary.

Works in partnership with Finance on the Business Applications team P&L including budget and headcount. Provides forecasting in partnership with the Business Applications leadership team. Identifies actions that can be taken to course-correct and drive performance improvement; anticipates business challenges based on forecasts. Works with Procurement team to coordinate resources. Collaborates with leaders regarding resource management planning.

Maximizing/ Extending the Leader

Leverages relationships to influence and advise on decisions, content, and/or expertise. Leverages key partnerships to drive the agenda for the leadership team and ensure follow up. Creates alignment within partnerships by providing an objective point of view, ensuring all voices are heard, synthesizing ideas, and creating an action plan.

Leverages knowledge of the leader's goals and business approach to ensure business activities are aligned with the leader's objectives. Supports the leader in one or more key business management areas (e.g., setting key goals, priorities, and definitions; team culture and health; communications; budget/finance; industry/specific business knowledge). Synthesizes information into insights that inform business decisions, leveraging expertise to influence the leader and leadership team.

Drives cross-team projects as needed to meet the changing business environment and manage complex business needs. Engages in project management or may act as a project/program manager to ensure organization-wide implementation of strategic efforts that require hands-on coordination across multiple functional disciplines and business organizations.

Organizational Health

Monitors team health and supports the leader in responding to team culture initiatives (e.g., Diversity and Inclusion [D&I], hiring, onboarding) while partnering with Human Resources to do so. Tracks the use of role-based compliance trainings and new trainings; drives the training completion rates. Plans and executes on trainings. Ensures a healthy compliance scorecard for the team/organization. Capitalizes on team strengths and identifies development areas.

Special Projects/Programs and Initiatives

Drives cross-team projects as needed to meet the changing business environment and manage complex business needs. Engages in project management or may act as a project/program manager to ensure organization-wide implementation of strategic efforts that require hands-on coordination across multiple functional disciplines and business organizations.
