Overview

Monetization and Business Planning (M+BP) team is part of Marketing group that is responsible for developing growth strategists that enable the Microsoft mission by creating durable profit growth through high-impact monetization strategies, packaging, and pricing. Our charter is significant and spans key growth engines for the company including all commercial solution areas and verticals. As a Business Planner you will focus on monetization strategy for our Education customers, including leading updates to pricing and packaging for products we sell to educational institutions. You will also develop and implement strategies and offers for other industries (including but not limited to Retail, Financial Services, Energy, and Agriculture) to build preference and profit growth. This work will build on and connect to the broader Industry initiatives while addressing the unique requirements in each vertical. You will also have the opportunity to create frameworks and strategies that cross all the industries Microsoft supports, with a focus on agentic AI. You’ll join the Solution GTM Strategy team, which leads global deal-making and empowerment strategies across Microsoft’s commercial portfolio. We design discounting frameworks, enable sellers to win competitive scenarios, and align monetization models with go-to-market execution. Responsibilities

As GTM deal strategy lead for Education and Industry your responsibilities will include:

• Develop and land Go-to-market strategy for some of the complex and high-impact launches by partnering across product business planning, sales, and finance

• Lead cross-solution area initiatives that leverage AI-driven capabilities and insights to improve and re-design innovative deal strategies, optimize monetization models, and create integrated value propositions across solution areas

• Leverage internal data and align with corporate sales strategy teams to evaluate and propose new opportunities to drive revenue through deal-making

• Leverage your experience and expertise to identify areas to drive deeper readiness and execution globally that aligns to your deal-making vision

• Gather competitive insights through research and direct interaction with in-field sellers and customers to refine deal making strategies to compete effectively by landing our business models and value proposition

• Partner with your regional counterparts to uncover actionable insights and build a business case to drive change in business models, go-to-market approach and deal making

• Run quarterly cadences with the cross-functional leadership to surface key accelerators and blockers to deal making and provide recommendations to drive change



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field
    • OR 3+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field
    • OR 6+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience working across diverse stakeholders to define and execute strategic initiatives with passion, precision, and excellence.
  • Exercise analytical problem-solving skills and ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to drive data-driven decisions.
  • Applies business judgement leveraging strategic thinking complemented with a bias for action and execution/operational excellence.
  • Use of communication and leadership skills to drive projects and build executive buy-in and support for key projects.


Business Planning IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,100 - $169,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $112,000 - $185,300 per year.
