Engineering Design Manager

Responsibilities
- Manage the engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield, brownfield and retrofit engineering / design projects.
- Manage internal and external resources for the delivery of the Datacenter building, power, cooling, telecom, and controls infrastructure to align with Microsoft Corporation datacenter capacity roadmap.
- Facilitation and delivery of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter designs including the development of new technology and advanced concepts from pre-programming through design development, construction, and the turnover to Operations.
- Design management, technical direction, decision-making and overall leadership for our datacenter architectural / engineering designs.
- Oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete Datacenter design solutions aligned with the scopes, schedules, and budgets of the projects.
- Engage with key MS stakeholder groups within Microsoft as well as outside vendors who specialize in datacenter architecture and engineering.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field AND 4+ years experience in engineering or construction project/program management, OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
Background Check Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
- Experience in the design of data centers.
- Technical understanding of mission critical environments.
- Ability to lead teams of architects and engineers in advanced engineering and operational processes and procedures as they relate to large data center environments.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
