The Vice President of Finance is a key member of Moda’s senior leadership team, reporting directly to the COO. We are looking for a leader who will bring best in class practices in strategic planning and analysis, accounting operations, and financial management, but most importantly, will take an active role in supporting the daily growth of our company. The VP of Finance leads a total team of 8-10 (2 directs) to deliver all internal finance related activities for the business and manage our external partnerships and investors relationships as we continue to grow the business.

Key Deliverables:

  • Develop and leverage a deep understanding of the key drivers of the various business levers to help drive strategic and operational initiatives as the business grows and scales
  • Direct and oversee the finance team and all financial activities of the company
  • Preparation of current financial reports
  • Define and develop core finance, accounting and risk management processes
  • Provide rigorous financial planning, analysis, and advice to support the growth of the business

Primary Responsibilities, include:

FP&A

  • Develop, own, and oversee all aspects of the company's financial planning and analysis, forecasting, accounting, strategic finance, and reporting, with a focus on strategic decision-making as well as tactical day-to-day delivery
  • Lead financial planning and analysis to provide strategic decision support and recommendations to company leadership

Budgeting

  • Manage budgeting and planning, cost management, forecasting, financial modeling, and reporting; own the financial model across multiple products and product lines
  • Work with managers to help them understand, develop, and monitor the company’s annual budget and monthly forecasts, which include establishing budget tools, setting timelines
  • Collaborate with team leaders to strategize and define team budgets, hiring plans, and other key performance indicators in alignment to plan; prepare and report against approved budgets
  • Generate financial models and forecasts; monitor core performance metrics on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, and communicate these across the business

Accounting & Compliance

  • Own and lead the monthly accounting close and reporting process
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Lead the preparation of all financial statements, financial reporting, and tax returns
  • Manage all aspects of the annual audit, tax return preparation, indirect cost allocation plan, and other filings as needed
  • Build financial and operational controls over ledgers, third-party custody providers, and other critical processes
  • Set and own annual calendar of financial communication touch-points to enable informed decision-making and budget performance to plan across the company

Leadership

  • Hire, train, develop and retain skilled accounting and finance staff as needed
  • Mentor, coach, and support the growth of the finance team
  • Role model company culture and core values, driving cross-functional team engagement, company-wide communication, and fiscal responsibility

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • CPA preferred
  • Experience with Looker & Netsuite preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Highest of ethical standards, integrity, authenticity, credibility, and character

Job Type: Full-time; Hybrid role; NYC based (Brooklyn office space)

Salary: $190,000 - $280,000 per year + Discretionary Bonus & Equity Eligible
