Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Manager, Tech Strategy & Operations to join our Tech Strategy & Operations team.

Oscar is the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform and a relentless focus on serving our members. We started Oscar in 2012 to create the kind of health insurance company we would want for ourselves—one that behaves like a doctor in the family.

About the role:

The Manager, Strategy & Operations serves as a critical driver of the technology organization’s culture and operational rhythm. This role is responsible for the hands-on execution of departmental processes, ensuring the "pulse of the team" remains healthy while providing essential support to the technology leadership team. By bridging the gap between high-level business strategy and disciplined execution, the Manager ensures the technology team stays synchronized and efficient.

You will report into the Head of Tech Strategy & Operations.

Work Location:

This position is based in our New York City office, requiring a hybrid work schedule with 3 days of in-office work per week. Thursdays are a required in-office day for team meetings and events, while your other two office days are flexible to suit your schedule. #LI-Hybrid

Pay Transparency:

The base pay for this role is: $123,372.00 - $161,925.75 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program and annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities:

  • Process Execution & Operational Support: Serve as the "arms and legs" for department leaders to ensure the seamless execution of the technology operating model and management processes.
  • Operating Rhythm & Management: Facilitate the technology leadership management process and departmental operating rhythm to ensure consistent progress tracking.
  • Team Engagement & Community Building: Take the "pulse of the team" and lead community-building initiatives to maximize the value of the organization’s human capital.
  • Onboarding & Talent Enablement: Own and execute the onboarding process for new team members to ensure the right people are assigned and integrated into the tech organization effectively.
  • Strategic Coordination: Support Strategy & Operations coordination across the tech leadership team (SVP Product & Data, SVP Engineering & Infrastructure, and Head of Tech).
  • Compliance & Administration: Maintain compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 4+ years of relevant experience specifically in strategy, operations, or project management.
  • Execution Expertise: Proven success in the execution of complex internal processes and operational workflows.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills, verbal and written, as demonstrated by experience in initiatives requiring coordination between multiple stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to support senior leadership in a fast-paced technology environment.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of commensurate experience.

Bonus points:

  • Technology Background: Experience working within a technology organization or managing technical implementations.
  • Tooling Knowledge: Understanding of ticketing systems (such as Jira) and project management software administration.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in supporting a Health Insurance company.
