We're looking for a hands on Head of Engineering to own the technical direction of our product engineering — someone who leads from the front across both our front-end and backend teams and is still happy in the code every week. You'll set architecture and standards, unblock and grow the engineers around you, and partner directly with Product and Design to turn fuzzy problems into simple, functional solutions that ship. You'll also define how AI is integrated into every stage of software development—from planning and implementation to testing, debugging, and code review. We expect AI-assisted engineering to be a force multiplier across the entire team, not an optional tool.

Our stack spans a large Python/Django platform and a growing set of TypeScript services and front-ends (web + mobile), so you're comfortable moving up and down the stack — and you lead how we fold AI into building and testing software, from AI-assisted dev and QA flows to LLM-powered code review. This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to shape how we build.

• Lead across front-end and backend teams — set technical direction, drive architecture decisions, and keep delivery unblocked without becoming a bottleneck.
• Stay hands-on: write and review code across our TypeScript stack (React, React Native, Node.js) and our Python/Django platform.
• Build AI into how we ship — design and own end-to-end AI-assisted flows for development and QA (code generation, test authoring, automated repro/verification loops), and use LLMs to strengthen code review and pre-merge checks so the team moves faster without lowering the bar on quality.
• Lead how AI is integrated across both our engineering organization and our products. You'll help define how we use modern AI tooling to build software more effectively while also designing and implementing AI-native product experiences that create meaningful value for our customers. We view AI as a foundational capability of the business—not just a developer productivity tool.
• Partner closely with Product and Design to scope and ship simple, functional solutions — pushing for the clearest, smallest thing that solves the real user problem.
• Guide the evolution from our Django monolith toward a modular, service-oriented architecture (TypeScript services on AWS Lambda / Hono / Node).
• Own engineering quality: testing, code review, observability, and pragmatic standards the team actually follows.
• Partner on infrastructure and delivery (AWS, CI/CD) so shipping is fast and safe.
• Mentor and grow engineers — level up the team through pairing, feedback, and clear technical guidance.

• 7+ years building and shipping production software, including [3]+ years leading or mentoring engineers across front-end and backend.
• Hands-on TypeScript across React, React Native, and Node.js — you've built and shipped both web and mobile front-ends and Node services.
• Strong Python and Django experience — comfortable maintaining, extending, and refactoring a substantial codebase (ORM, migrations, performance).
• Deep fluency with modern AI-assisted software development. You actively use LLMs, coding agents, and AI developer tools as part of your daily workflow and have introduced AI-powered development practices that measurably improved engineering productivity or quality.
• Drive AI strategy across engineering and product. Partner with Product to identify where AI can meaningfully improve customer experiences, build intelligent product capabilities, and create new product value—not simply automate existing workflows. At the same time, establish AI-native engineering practices that improve how our team designs, builds, tests, and operates software.
• 5+ years working with AWS — you've designed, deployed, and operated real workloads (Lambda, DynamoDB/RDS, API Gateway, IAM, CI/CD).
• 5+ years partnering with Product and Design teams to create simple, functional solutions — you translate business goals into pragmatic technical plans and know when not to over-build.
• Full-stack breadth and sound architectural judgment — you can reason about a feature end to end, from UI to data model to deploy.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in a remote team.

• Experience in fintech, credit, or rental/proptech.
• Experience leading monolith-to-service migrations, domain-driven design, or event-driven systems.
• A pragmatic mindset — you know when to refactor vs. when to leave legacy alone, and can make good decisions in ambiguity.
• Deep fluency with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) — and a point of view on where agentic/LLM tooling belongs in the dev and QA loop and where it doesn't.
