Spotify’s Advertising’s Business Marketing team's mission is to inspire advertisers and marketers to connect with billions of fans. The Global Creative Director, will help us build and guide our new global in-house creative agency team whom will have an expertise in creating and producing data-first, brand-focused, audience-ready campaigns for advertisers. This person would ideally be an accomplished agency creative executive who is passionate about making extraordinary work whom is an excellent collaborator and effective operator. We are a fast-paced company that requires leaders to be able to anticipate, react and activate teams quickly to keep pace with the market. This role will report to the Global Head of Advertising Business Marketing.
This results-driven individual will build Spotify Advertising’s end-to-end creative capabilities for marketers and advertisers globally. This internal group will help unlock creative possibilities and business potential through our unique, dynamic storytelling platforms and innovative creation tools and services. They will aim to inspire, educate and make ideas come to life for our clients through delivering creative ideation that showcases Spotify’s unique features, and by producing award winning integrated campaigns. They will be managing a team of entrepreneurially minded problem solvers and doers. They will be passionate about solving problems using creativity and innovation, excited to work with industry leaders to create best-in-class marketing initiatives and driven to support the world’s preeminent professional creative platform. Above all, we are looking for people who have passion for Spotify and a desire to help propel the Spotify Advertising business and creative platforms into the future.
The Global Creative Director will be a visionary creative leader who is dedicated to the intersection of technology and storytelling. They are future-minded and always thinking about the next feature or product to build within the innovation pipeline with immersive storytelling for the industry in mind. They are multifaceted in their abilities: can one day deliver audience-centric ideas that focus on specific business objectives; on another day sit with CCOs or CMOs at Fortune 500 brands to inspire them to consider future innovations and recommendations for their brands. They are an effective operator who can generate “big ideas,” but most significantly make them real. This leader knows how to bring ideas from development to execution with a focus on driving our clients business and Spotify Advertising forward. They will partner closely with Product and Sales, being fully attuned to market needs (creative solutions and client service) as well as internal needs (process, infrastructure, efficiency) and delivering directly on shared Spotify Advertising goals.
What You'll Do
- Build and lead a team to deliver the innovative campaigns, positioning and creative solutions for businesses of all sizes fueled by the power of Spotify Advertising
- Inspire and educate internal and external teams on the strength of creativity to support brands that people love and follow
- Partner with clients and agencies directly to build award-winning, first in class advertising campaigns on Spotify at scale to amplify brands and businesses in a complex and crowded media landscape.
- This team will create, concept, implement and partner with internal and extended teams to align on all deliverables
- Concept creative ideas that result in effective, breakthrough communication
- Develop and produce creative results and processes that help unlock our advertiser’s creative and business opportunities
- Provide project and production management of 1st and 3rd party partners and creators, supporting end to end creative services to top clients
- Identify, develop and drive a unique position for Spotify’s creative offerings and deliver them in a compelling way to convince advertisers and their agencies to explore solutions with us
- Influence and work with product teams within Spotify Advertising to develop innovative products for creators, agencies and businesses to future-proof and maintain our position as the world’s best professional creative platform
- Work closely with Spotify insights and data science teams to understand creative standard processes that will inform the development of best in class, effective campaigns
- Develop and demonstrate innovative thought leadership on industry, advertising, visual and digital culture and trends as input and fodder to inspire partners
- Be a strong partner and collaborator with Sales to build Spotify Advertising equity and retention with our clients
Who You Are
- 15+ years of experience running large teams for an in-house creative department / agency.
- Experience leading and operationalizing creative teams within a tech company or a creative agency is highly preferred
- Highly organized and strong operational skills whom can work across time zones and markets
- BA in advertising, arts or communication or equal years of experience in advertising industry
- Experience being responsible for budgets, process and ways of working internally and externally
- Established industry presence who possesses a portfolio of global and regional award winning work
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment and cross functionally between business marketing, brand, and product teams to build consensus on shared initiatives
- Experience working with senior level team members, Product, Sales, Data & Insights and Clients at agencies and brands
- Fan, contributor and documentor of culture, with a keen understanding of what is relevant and an eye for upcoming audio, visual, digital and tech trends
- Accomplished written and verbal communicator, with the ability to articulate abstract creative and persuade audiences when required
- Deep understanding of integrated marketing development, tech platforms and social media landscape, with experience in digital first production

- We’ve introduced Work From Anywhere to give you more options, however, we would ideally like this person to be based in the New York area
- While we will ask you to pop into the office from time to time, we are giving you the flexibility to work from home should you choose to do so.

The United States base range for this position is $175,010 to $250,014, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
