We are seeking a dynamic, hard-working, strategic candidate to join Spotify’s Global Government Affairs team in New York City as Manager of State & Local Government Affairs.

The Government Affairs team is charged with understanding the global and local policy landscape in relation to Spotify’s business objectives and advocating on the company’s behalf on critical issues. We represent the company before legislators and regulators, see around corners, and mitigate potential risks.
In this role you will closely coordinate with global colleagues, as well as other groups throughout Spotify, in order to develop positions on public policy proposals and as well as strategies to advocate on them. You will report directly to the Director of Government Affairs, US & Canada.

What You'll Do

  • Engage regularly with policymakers with a focus on New York City and key U.S. states
  • Develop expertise on the public policy issues of greatest commercial and reputational importance to Spotify including tax, artificial intelligence, content moderation, and more
  • Identify and evaluate the top-priority public policy issues affecting Spotify and work with your manager and US-focused teammates to develop and execute effective advocacy strategies around them
  • Work closely with other groups and departments inside Spotify -- including legal, communications, social impact, product teams, compliance, and trust and safety -- to understand the priorities of internal partners, and create approaches to key policy issues that advance the interests of Spotify
  • Drive engagement, partnerships, and thought leadership on key public policy issues with external organizations such as trade associations and civil society organizations

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of experience developing and implementing public policy strategies and interacting professionally in a public policy environment
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Experience working in government, for a company, and/or a trade association
  • Outstanding existing relationships and the ability to build new ones with NYC officials, legislators in key states, peers at Spotify and in other companies, and more
  • Experience developing and implementing public policy strategies in the technology sector
  • Experience working with senior government officials, private sector leaders, and other public policy professionals
  • A track record of effective advocacy before government officials
  • A readiness to dive in to solve problems and think strategically
  • Ability to build diverse, cross-functional, and multi-level relationships and experience advising and interacting with senior policymakers and business executives
  • Ability to travel throughout the US as needed, including on short notice
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an absolute commitment to professionalism and collegiality, and a high degree of integrity
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills

Where You'll Be

  • This is a hybrid role based in our New York City offices (average 2 to 3 days a week required)

The United States base range for this position is $127,779-$182,542, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
