About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

At Stripe, we are building a powerful suite of Data Products that enable all Stripes to understand, analyze, and take action based on data and metrics. As a Full Stack Engineer in our Data Products Workbench Team, you will play a crucial role in developing high leverage tooling and user interfaces for data visualization and analysis, all of which are critical to driving data literacy, empowering decision-making, and improving ML model performance across the organization. The team is part of the Data Platform Products organization and our long-term vision is to build a unified data product development experience at Stripe.

What you’ll do

Joining our Data Products Workbench Team means being part of an innovative and diverse team working on impactful projects that empower the entire Stripe organization. You will have the opportunity to shape the future of data-driven decision-making and help build world-class data products. If you have a passion for data, analytics, and delivering high-quality software, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Build and launch new capabilities and products that bring significant value to users
  • Work with a wide range of systems, processes and technologies to own and solve technical and product problems
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable user interfaces and backend systems for our Data Products, ensuring high performance, accessibility, and responsiveness.
  • Uphold our high engineering standards, and elevate quality and engineering efficiency within our many codebases and processes
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization including dependency engineering teams, product, design, infrastructure, and operations
  • Mentor engineers earlier in their technical careers to help them grow

Who you are

We’re looking for people with a strong background or interest in building successful products; you’re passionate about solving business problems and making impact, you are comfortable in dealing with lots of moving pieces; and you’re comfortable learning new technologies and systems.

Minimum requirements

  • Have a strong technical background, including 3+ years of experience working on full stack code bases and doing anything it takes to solve problems and delight users.
  • Proficiency in front end technologies (HTML/CSS/Typescript/React/Redux/REST APIs).
  • Experience with server-side programming using languages like Python, Node.js, or Go.
  • Prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones, and have a good intuition for what will last and scale.
  • Are motivated by solving hard problems, and measure your success in terms of impact doing so.
  • Thrive in a highly collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience of building front end technologies involving data-oriented products or analytics tools.
  • Experience with data visualization libraries such as D3.js, Highcharts, or Plotly, and an understanding of principles of effective data visualization.
  • Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases, and ability to design and optimize data schemas to support efficient querying and data processing, optimizing data pipelines, and ensuring seamless data flow across systems.

This role is available either in an office or a remote location (typically, 35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office).

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.

The annual US base salary range for this role is $209,800 - $314,800. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.
