Reporting to the Senior Manager of Communications, this person will sit within the Social & Content function and collaborate with colleagues across Press & Policy, Events, Decoded Futures, and Obviously NYC. They will turn Tech:NYC's programs, policy work, members, events, and ecosystem insights into clear, compelling stories while helping maintain a consistent voice and a steady editorial drumbeat. Main Duties:
-
Write, edit, and publish content across Tech:NYC's newsletters (both internal and external), website, social channels, and reports.
-
Produce social-ready short-form video — concepts, scripts, simple clips, and captions — using standard social and editing tools.
-
Contribute to Tech:NYC's recurring editorial series, such as VC Spotlights and Companies to Watch.
-
Pitch stories about Tech:NYC members, programs, policy work, events, and New York's technology ecosystem.
-
Conduct interviews and turn them into profiles, Q&As, articles, newsletter features, and social content.
-
Translate complex technology, business, and policy topics into clear, engaging language.
-
Carry assigned content projects from brief through review, publication, and distribution.
Your Skills and Experience:
-
3–5 years of experience in content, communications, journalism, digital media, or a related field.
-
Excellent writing, editing, interviewing, and storytelling skills.
-
Comfort producing social-first short-form video, with fluency in common editing and social publishing tools.
-
A strong writing and social portfolio; video samples are a plus.
-
Ability to carry content projects from brief through publication with limited oversight.
-
Sound editorial judgment and an eye for a compelling story.
-
Ability to translate complex information into clear, accessible content.
-
Comfort managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
-
Familiarity with email platforms, content-management systems, social publishing tools, and basic analytics.
-
Interest in New York City, technology, business, public policy, or civic life.
-
Resourcefulness and comfort working in a lean, collaborative organization.
