About The RoleTech Strategy & Engineering is solving some of the most interesting and complex problems for Uber’s Engineering teams. Our team engages at all levels of Uber engineering, and leads a portfolio of hundreds of programs. The team has grown by nearly 30% in the last year, and is seeking a highly skilled full stack Sr Staff Engineer to drive several cloud architecture initiatives.In this role, you will be responsible for deeply understanding Uber’s architecture (infra, services, data) and providing technical guidance and strategy to partner organizations that guide their journey (current and future) to the cloud. What You’ll Do

• Evaluate existing architectures, data stores, and business processes - make recommendations to optimize, improve, address business process gaps.
• Establish and drive architectural efficiency programs that further reduce or optimize Uber’s cost to serve customers
• Collaborate with all partners in engineering, product, operations and other involved orgs
• Help improve and establish good engineering practices across the team
• Interface and work with Principal engineers in cross team engagements

Minimum QualificationsMaster’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field AND 12-years full-time Software Engineering work experience OR 15-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 12-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go)

Required Technical Skills:

• Experience in product engineering, scalability engineering, distributed systems, performance
• Strong experience in software design and architecture (especially big data).
• Experience going through the full software cycle of requirements, design, coding/testing, rollout/deploy standard methodologies in delivering world class software and services.
• Experience in technical collaboration with other engineers and product managers

Preferred

• Experience in developing a large scale consumer internet platform/product
• Worked in an environment of collaboration across geographies
• Has mentored and guided engineers on technical implementations
