About the Role

For over a century, the experience inside a car has been defined by whoever built the vehicle. Autonomous vehicles change that. Without a driver, the cabin becomes a space for work, entertainment, relaxation, and connection. At Uber, we're building the software that powers that experience across vehicle manufacturers, autonomy partners, and markets around the world.

As the Lead Product Manager for In-Vehicle Experience (IVE), you will define the future of the robotaxi rider experience. You will own the software and digital experiences inside and around the vehicle, including the in-vehicle tablet, rider controls, music & entertainment, ambient lighting, audio, and exterior HMI. Your goal is simple: create experiences that feel intuitive, delightful, and unmistakably Uber.

You'll work closely with Product leadership, Design, Engineering, vehicle manufacturers, and autonomy partners to define the long-term vision for the robotaxi cabin and bring that vision to life across multiple vehicle platforms. Many of the experiences you'll build have never existed before. You'll imagine how people will interact with autonomous vehicles years from now, then work backwards to make that vision real.

This role is for someone with exceptional product judgment, strong consumer instincts, and an obsession with quality. You notice the details that other people miss. You care how a transition feels, how a sound communicates intent, and how dozens of small interactions come together to shape a rider's experience. You believe great products don't just work well. They build trust, create delight, and make new technology feel familiar.

What You'll Do

  • Own the product strategy, roadmap, and execution for Uber's in-vehicle experience across current and future autonomous vehicle platforms.
  • Define every digital interaction riders have inside and around the vehicle, including the in-vehicle tablet, infotainment, rider controls, entertainment, ambient lighting, audio experiences, and exterior HMI.
  • Create experiences that help riders feel comfortable, informed, and in control from the moment the vehicle arrives until the trip ends.
  • Partner closely with Design to create simple, thoughtful interactions that feel polished from end to end.
  • Work with Product leadership to define Uber's long-term vision for the robotaxi cabin and influence the capabilities of future vehicle platforms.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, vehicle manufacturers, and autonomy partners to build deeply integrated experiences across multiple vehicle platforms.
  • Define product requirements that inform future vehicle hardware, including displays, speakers, microphones, lighting, and other in-cabin technologies.
  • Own entertainment and personalization experiences, including integrations with media providers and new ways for riders to enjoy content during their trip.
  • Obsess over the details. Think about animations, transitions, sounds, lighting behaviors, typography, and edge cases that most people overlook but every rider notices.
  • Balance long-term vision with day-to-day execution, making smart tradeoffs while delivering experiences that can scale across partners and vehicle platforms.
  • Learn from rider feedback, field observations, and product data to continuously improve the experience.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of product management experience building and shipping consumer products.
  • Strong product judgment and a track record of turning ambiguous problems into products customers love.
  • Deep empathy for users and experience working closely with Product Design to solve complex UX problems.
  • Experience leading large cross-functional initiatives across engineering, design, operations, and external partners.
  • Ability to define success metrics, prioritize roadmaps, and drive execution across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills and experience presenting product vision, tradeoffs, and roadmap decisions to senior leadership.
  • Technical fluency and the ability to work effectively with engineers on complex hardware-software systems and external platform integrations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building consumer products that combine hardware and software, such as automotive, consumer electronics, wearables, smart home, or other connected devices.
  • Experience working with vehicle manufacturers, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or other complex hardware or autonomy ecosystems.
  • Experience owning infotainment, media, entertainment, personalization, or human-machine interaction products.
  • Strong understanding of interaction design, user experience principles, and consumer behavior.
  • Experience building products that span multiple partners, platforms, or operational environments.
