About the Role

Uber Direct enables merchants to unlock last mile delivery for their customers via their app or website. As a Strategy & Operations Manager, you will manage operational improvements to drive the best reliability for Direct and unlock Uber’s next big bet. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure our partners have the best experience possible when using our platform. That means delivering on our promise to deliver any order on time, at any time.

This role will be responsible for building and scaling logistics capabilities that enable new growth opportunities across Uber’s platform. This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution and is responsible for translating operational priorities into scalable solutions. The role will help shape both the near-term execution approach and the evolving long-term operating strategy for last mile logistics capabilities.

The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in ambiguity, building structure from the ground up, and leading cross-functional initiatives in a fast-evolving environment. This person should be equally comfortable defining strategy, driving operational execution, and adapting approaches as business needs evolve and new information emerges. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong owner mentality and the ability to balance detailed operational execution with broader strategy. You will work closely with our Leadership Team, and drive alignment across the entire organization, including Operations, Partner Management, Product, and Engineering.

What You’ll Do

  • Proactively scope and lead multiple projects to improve reliability (completion rate & on-time rate) of the Last mile logistics business; take accountability for project outcomes, ensure delivery on project critical metrics, & keep others informed of progress
  • Analyze sophisticated data, build models, and aggregate insights to drive key business decisions and policies
  • Define critical metrics and develop dashboards to track business performance; report findings to senior leadership to define long-term strategy and decision-making
  • Collaborate and work cross-functionally with other operations teams as well as Product, Partner Managers, Sales, Finance, etc. to ensure insights inform broader critical initiatives
  • Coordinate with the Product team to prioritize and iterate on new tech features that improve the merchant experience

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional work experience in a related field (start-up, operations, strategy, analytics, tech)
  • Bachelor degree in technical field like Engineering, Mathematical, STEM, or other related field
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL, Excel/Google Sheets, and AI tools proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to build deep cross-functional relationships across a broad organization, foster collaborative work environment, and understand problems from diverse perspectives. Humility and empathy are critical to success in this role
  • Experience creating dashboard (Tableau/Datastudio/Looker) and KPIs tracking
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with logistics, delivery operations, marketplace operations, or platform-based business models
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment
  • Excellent organization, time management and prioritization skills; proven ability to balance multiple critical tasks and consistently delivering against hard deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to synthesize information quickly, to distill key takeaways, and to weave insights into a compelling story that clarifies and inspires

For New York City, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $106,000 per year - USD $118,000 per year.


For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $106,000 per year - USD $118,000 per year.


For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
