Commercial Operations Manager - Autonomous Delivery
Operations
USD 162k-180k / year + Equity
About the Role
We are looking for a commercial operator to scale and grow Autonomous Delivery across Uber Reporting to the Senior Manager of Merchant Strategy, you will be responsible for executing the strategy within specific markets across key merchants. You will analyze local marketplace dynamics to identify high-value merchants, pitch the autonomous value proposition, and operationally optimize them to maximize AV utilization. You are not just signing deals; you are building the density required to make autonomous delivery a catalyst for innovation.
What You'll Do
- Commercial Execution: Own the merchant acquisition funnel for your assigned territories. You will target and onboard high-volume merchants that fit our prioritization framework, ensuring we work with partners that can move the needle on AV Eligible order volume.
- Merchant Optimization: It’s not enough to just opt-in a merchant; you must ensure they work. You will diagnose underperforming storefronts and implement operational fixes to improve the overall AV Delivery experience.
- Data-Driven Targeting: Use internal data (hex-level density, eligible order volume) to identify "gap" areas where robot supply exists but merchant inventory is low. You will direct sales efforts toward these specific pockets to balance the marketplace.
- Partner Management: Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for mid-market and enterprise relationships. You will conduct business reviews, present performance data, and sell in new incentives to drive adoption.
- Feedback Loop: act as the "eyes and ears" on the ground, relaying merchant feedback regarding defects, integration friction, and Eater opt-in behavior back to the Product and Engineering teams.
Sample Projects You Might Lead:
- Executing a "density sprint" in Los Angeles to onboard 50 specific storefronts within a high-supply/low-utilization hex.
- Running an A/B test on merchant incentives (e.g., staff rewards for fast handoffs) to improve bot completion rates.
- Partnering with a local franchise group to pilot a dedicated "robot pickup lane" workflow.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience: 4-5 years of professional experience in Strategy & Operations, Account Management, or Business Development.
- Delivery DNA: Direct experience driving commercial outcomes within Uber Eats, Grocery, or Last-Mile Delivery. You understand the nuances of prep times, courier handoffs, and marketplace liquidity.
- Analytical Rigor: Proficient in SQL/Excel with a proven ability to pull data, size opportunities, and measure the impact of initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial Acumen: Proven track record of negotiating with merchants and influencing external stakeholders to adopt new products or operational behaviors.
- Large-Scale Merchant Experience: Experience working with Franchise groups, Mid-Market chains, or Enterprise brands. You know how to navigate complex decision-making structures beyond the single SMB owner.
- Tech-Forward: Familiarity with POS integrations (Olo, Toast) and how they impact merchant operations.
- Problem Solver: Ability to navigate ambiguity. You can look at a heat map of "idle robots" and "missed orders" and construct a tactical plan to fix the gap.
