About the role

The Labor Compliance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance programs, policies, and procedures across the organization. This role involves risk assessment, training and education, investigations, and continuous monitoring to ensure full adherence to labor laws, regulations, and industry standards. The ideal candidate will be an internal expert on labor law, working closely with external legal partners to safeguard the organization against legal risks, fines, and penalties.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and Implement Compliance Programs:

  • Create, maintain, and update compliance policies, procedures, and controls across the organization.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., labor laws, 1099, workers' compensation, data privacy, environmental/safety records, and FSQA regulations records).

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential compliance risks.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.

Training and Education:

  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs to employees at all levels.
  • Raise awareness of compliance issues and foster a culture of compliance within the organization.

Investigations and Monitoring:

  • Conduct internal investigations into suspected violations of laws, regulations, or company policies.
  • Monitor compliance activities and report findings to senior management.

Stay Updated on Legal & Regulatory Changes:

  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Advise management on the impact of these changes on the organization.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including legal counsel, auditors, and regulators.

Labor Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain, and update policies and procedures related to:
  • FLSA, Wage and Hour Laws (minimum wage, overtime, meal & break requirements)
  • Employee Classification (full-time, part-time, independent contractor)
  • Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Laws (discrimination, harassment)
  • Paid Time Off & Paid Sick Leaves, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Scheduling Laws & Fair Work Week (FWW)
  • Worker Safety and Health Regulations (OSHA)
  • Immigration Laws (I-9 compliance)
  • Payroll & Benefits, Unemployment, Disability, Workers' Compensation
  • State Tax Regulations and Withholdings, State-Specific Deductions
  • Hiring & Documentation (Background checks, Labor Law posters, EE records)
  • Contracts & Offers, Hiring Reporting Requirements
  • Ensure policies and handbooks are up to date
  • Compliance with mandatory employee trainings (Sexual Harassment, Food Handler, Workplace Safety, and other state-mandated training)

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven track record of implementing and maintaining compliance programs.
  • Experience working with external legal partners and regulatory agencies

Base Salary:

$122,000
