We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director of Product Design for our search division. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving innovative and user-centric design solutions in the search industry. The successful candidate will lead a team of talented product designers to build and enhance our search product to meet the needs of our customers.


Lead the product design team to develop innovative and user-centric search experiences across multiple platforms

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and data scientists to develop and execute the search product roadmap

• Define and maintain a design vision and strategy that aligns with business goals and customer needs

• Hire, mentor and manage a team of product designers, providing them with direction, feedback, and guidance

• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and excellence in design

• Conduct user research and usability testing to gain insights into user behavior and inform design decisions

• Monitor design trends and emerging technologies to ensure our search product remains competitive

• Work with stakeholders to create compelling presentations and design proposals that effectively communicate design concepts and solutions

• Ensure that all design work is delivered on time, to a high standard, and within budget


At least 10 years of experience in product design, with a focus on search

• Proven track record of leading and managing product design teams

• Expertise in user-centered design, design thinking, and design process methodologies

• Strong understanding of search engines and search algorithms

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present design concepts to stakeholders and senior management

• Ability to think strategically and make data-driven design decisions

• A passion for innovation and a desire to push the boundaries of search design

• A strong portfolio of search design work that demonstrates your design skills, problem-solving ability, and understanding of user needs

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in product design, UX/UI design, or a related field.

The compensation for this position ranges from $160,965.00 - $349,885.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives. Yahoo has a high degree of flexibility around employee location and hybrid working. In fact, our flexible-hybrid approach to work is one of the things our employees rave about.
