A Little About Us:

The Factual is a recently acquired startup by Yahoo that serves as an experimentation arm of Yahoo for the latest technology applied to applications in news. As a part of The Factual team, you'll support the product strategy, roadmap, and execution end-to-end as we build the next generation of subscription products, connecting our members with more of the things they love to do online.

As a Senior Front End Software Engineer at Yahoo!, you will specialize in building high-performance, scalable, cross-browser compatible, accessible, and elegant web applications with VueJS/Jquery, Webpack, HTML5, CSS3, JS and other technologies. You will work hand in hand with world-class teams of other software engineers and architects as well as backend engineers, cloud data experts, product designers, product managers, and computer scientists to build amazing and emotional experiences that will delight our users.

Responsibilities:

• Build next-generation applications for desktop and mobile browsers with an emphasis on emotional experiences and constant attention to scalability, performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.

• Drive engineering initiatives to improve and streamline the development process.

• Promote engineering excellence by educating on latest best practices, e.g. performance

A lot About You:

• 5+ years of experience in web development and front-end engineering.

• Strong proficiency in Javascript, client-side scripting, Javascript frameworks, and libraries especially vueJS and Vuex

• A strong follower of progressive enhancement. Stuff that you make work regardless of Javascript being enabled, lack of modern browsers, during all seasons and weather conditions.

• Proficient in webpack and other js/css bundling frameworks

• Aware of browser nuances, incompatibilities, and most of the things that can go wrong when it comes to CSS. You know the hacks, the costs, and tradeoffs to make layouts stick to your commands across all browsers.

• Experience with A/B testing frameworks/libraries

• Understanding of best practices for web security implementations and protocols

Preferred Qualifications:

• Solid understanding of ES6/TypeScript

• Knowledge of browser internals like Javascript engines and ways to tune code for the best performance

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,250.00 - $266,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
