The User Experience Research & Consumer Insights (UXR-CI) team is the core user-focused research function supporting Yahoo’s GM organizations through all stages of the product life cycle. Made up of subject matter experts leveraging qualitative and quantitative methods to understand customer needs, wants and motivations, this team provides actionable insights and recommendations that inform consumer-first strategies and product decisions.
We are looking for a Sr User Experience Researcher to support Yahoo for Publishers. Yahoo for Publishers (Y4P) is a brand new, comprehensive program to develop independent publishers as well as individual content creators to deliver a more robust, higher quality content experience to the Yahoo audience. This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced self-starter, who is excited to be part of a growing new product team and enjoys product and design developments.
A Lot About You
You have experience in working in digital content creation or content aggregation platforms and understand how to qualitatively and quantitatively research the needs of creators as well as those of the content’s. As Y4P Sr. UX Researcher you have an understanding of content publishing or aggregation platforms, how content creators use and navigate them and how to create insightful recommendations for the platform product developers and designers. You may also have worked directly with writers and creators and understand how to conduct research among and for them. Additionally, in-depth knowledge of conducting user experience research among digital content consumers is highly preferred.
You have a proven track record of shaping and delivering a wide range of generative and evaluative research projects across the entirety of the product life cycle. Thought leadership and insightful deliverables are second nature, because they are critical in enabling our partners to make better informed, confident decisions and to set the strategy for future products and features.
Collaboration with stakeholders on all levels comes easy to you. You enjoy designing and executing qualitative and quantitative research to deliver relevant and timely key findings. You are familiar with working in a fast-paced organization with agile product and design teams. As a closely embedded partner to the Y4P team you enjoy a healthy dose of autonomy and function as UXR subject matter expert and thought leader for the business unit who is closely collaborating with product management, design and analytics and experimentations teams.
What you’ll be doing
You will collaborate with a multitude of stakeholders in an agile product and design organization to deliver key insights that will drive the development of new Y4P products. Direct experience in both traditional and modern approaches to recruitment, diverse research methods, ability to manage vendors and impactful reporting is a must.
Translate business and product questions into research briefs to design and execute projects from start to finish.
Work with product and design teams, demonstrating expertise in generative and evaluative research methodologies (qualitative and quantitative) with experience in market research/consumer insights and extensive experience in UX Research (IDIs, surveys, moderated and unmoderated remote interviews, card sorts, journey mapping...)
Along with a Sr Research Manager, you will identify key research objectives in partnership with product, design, and engineering teams to address research needs, manage multiple, key projects simultaneously and develop project roadmaps.
Socializing, collaborating and presenting research to multiple teams and leaders across the organization.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience in the creator space including content promotion and audience development, as well as a solid understanding of digital and new media types, including video, audio, social, mobile and associated business models.
BA/BS/MA/MS in Human Centered Design (HCI)
7+ years industry experience or advanced degree with a focus on market research or UXR.
Ability to work independently
Experience running moderated usability labs, including expertise in task scenario best practices.
Exceptional communication skills and an ability to synthesize complex findings into actionable insights
Expert knowledge of quantitative research metrics like NPS, as well as a practical understanding of sample size, confidence levels and validity
Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods
Experience synthesizing large-scale data in multi-method studies
Experience with survey design and response effects

The compensation for this position ranges from $120,750.00 - $251,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
