About The Opportunity

  • Legal Counsel

  • Full-time

  • Ireland-based

  • Hybrid-working model. Remote-working friendly, with some office visits required for team building, business meetings. Dublin office available for working and meeting colleagues.

Your Day

The role involves providing product and commercial transactions legal support for Yahoo’s EMEA business. You will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:

  • Provide product review and counseling on numerous legal subject areas, including consumer protection, content regulation, privacy and intellectual property.

  • Work closely with Public Policy colleagues to determine the impact of new and planned laws across EMEA and to develop compliance strategies.

  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on commercial agreements, including content licensing, procurement, online advertising and ad tech agreements.

  • Liaising appropriately with subject matter experts in the global Yahoo legal team, including privacy and corporate functions.

  • Developing a broad understanding of Yahoo’s business and products.

  • Provide strategic direction in the contracting process to support the business, mitigate risks, assess and manage privacy considerations, ensure compliance with industry standards and self-regulatory requirements, and provide creative problem solving when legal or reputational issues arise.

About You..
We are looking for an individual who has a passion for the Internet, a genuine curiosity for leveraging technology to drive innovation, and is eager to learn about and contribute to the success of Yahoo's business. A successful candidate needs to demonstrate the following characteristics and experiences:

  • Irish solicitor qualification

  • 2-5 years PQE (as a guide) commercial legal experience at a reputable law firm (preferably in media/ entertainment).

  • A versatile lawyer and team player who is able to develop and clearly communicate thoughtful legal and policy guidance to stakeholders throughout the company.

  • Experience or strong interest in digital media, advertising, and technology.

  • Working knowledge of relevant privacy law.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, make sound business and legal decisions under tight deadlines.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects or project components with minimal supervision.

  • Ideally experience of working in global/ US headquartered/ pan Euro teams.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

  • Experienced collaborator who can quickly build strong relationships with team members, executives and key stakeholders.
