Principal Software Dev Engineer, Yahoo Mail
Yahoo Mail engineering team builds, enhances, and maintains one of the highest scaling email platforms on the planet. We handle billions of inbound connections per day to manage trillions of messages requiring petabytes of efficient storage. We develop and maintain high-performing systems that provide REST APIs for our world-class mail clients (mobile, web), standards-based protocols (IMAP, POP, SMTP) services, and industry leading mail synchronization.

Design and develop large-scale distributed systems that balance resources, constraints, requirements, and complexity
Deploy, monitor and operate large scale production systems distributed across the globe
Automate the provisioning, CI/CD pipelines, and management of our infrastructure
Lead projects and mentor junior team members
Participate in agile development with weekly sprints, planning & estimating work, daily standup, & retrospective
Effectively collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional teams
Recommend alternative approaches to solving complex problems and use new technology to achieve goals
BS/MS in Computer Science or related work experience
8+ years of industry experience with designing and building scalable back end systems
Expertise in Java, J2EE, Web services and related technologies
Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals including Data Structures, Algorithms, OS and Networking
Experience with development on Unix (Linux) platform
Experience in implementing and/or operating highly scalable and available services in public cloud environments (AWS, GCP)
Great communicator, enjoys helping people, remains friendly and constructive under stress

The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
