Who you are:

  • You care about maintainability and improving the quality of life for engineers on the team

  • You love to review code

  • You have strong opinions, but know when to cooperate

  • You are product-minded and you think about the user experience


  • Work on the News and Weather Android apps features and maintenance

  • All new code is almost exclusively Kotlin, Coroutines, MVVM, Hilt, and other goodies!

  • Review your peers’ code

  • Propose and discuss architectural improvements

  • Coordinate with other teams about adjacent SDKs and services

  • Participate in monitoring of the apps in production

  • Participate in team organization through standups, planning sessions, and retrospectives


  • Mastery of Android development

  • Experience with adjacent mobile technologies like telemetry, crash reporting, performance optimization, UI/UX design systems, etc.

  • History of teaching/mentoring

  • History of influencing team decisions

  • Bonus points if you have personal projects or open-source contributions

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,250.00 - $266,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives. Yahoo provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation, sick time, parental leave and an employee assistance program. Yahoo has a high degree of flexibility around employee location and hybrid working. In fact, our flexible-hybrid approach to work is one of the things our employees rave about. Most roles don’t require specific regular patterns of in-person office attendance.
