Technical Event Production Manager
Yahoo is seeking a senior level, technical production and event management professional that has experience in both producing virtual and in-person events. The Technical Production Manager’s primary responsibility is to manage the production of in-person events with a focus on the digital and technical elements of stage/ROS/AV for B2B and O&O live events in partnership with the Event Marketing team. This includes end-to-end production, occasionally independently and/or with the support of other team members throughout the year.
This role also supports the technical production of virtual events (including webinars and livestreams), which requires a wide array of technical aspects of virtual event production (security and privacy stewardship, back-end and front-end UX platform management, detailed audio and video formats).
Candidates must be local to our Reston, VA or our New York offices to be considered.
Partner with events marketing team and internal clients to understand experiential goals and identify how to best implement AV technology to optimize the client experience.
Regularly review, negotiate & sign off on AV & production vendor quotes and final configuration for each event (when applicable).
Expertise in event technical planning and processes with a pulse on current AV production technology to implement solutions that increase efficiency and provide our customers with a premium experience.
Ability to apply knowledge of AV and ROS to handle assigned projects with minimal supervision.
Expertise and tangible examples of working, producing and executing programs in the virtual event landscape, awareness of current trends, vendors and best practices for delivering best-in-class digital and virtual experiences.
Simultaneously managing & executing multiple events of any size up to large scale, including making recommendations on balancing the optimal platform(s), vendors, and internal partners.
Experience and technical knowledge producing events on virtual event platforms including Zoom, Vimeo, and Meet.
Experience with custom solutions, integrations with Splash That and Marketo a plus. Tangible experience working with other platforms and vendors not listed here should be included and will be considered.
Experience with live streaming, broadcast and physical/virtual event production.
Ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve platform issues before, during and after an event with an eye on best-in-class UX, quality assurance and customer centricity.
Executive management - presentations and direct troubleshooting with senior leadership is a regular part of this role.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
5-7 years experience at an agency, vendor, in-house, or corporate production experience preferred.
Proven experience executing past events and digital and technical production experience
Able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of audio-visual design and production terminology build out operations, staffing, labor, talent management FOH & BOH production and technical design.
Excellent communication and executive handling skills are a must to build and maintain relationships.
Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with internal and external stakeholders.
Comfortable working independently with limited guidance.
Proficiency in managing and tracking complex budgets including contract and vendor negotiations.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams on programming and content; providing strategic guidance and insight moving beyond a purely logistical role.
Strong project management & time management skills with a proven track record of meeting key milestones, deadlines and staying within budget. This includes overseeing external vendors ensuring they too meet deadlines and stay within budget.
Accurately collect, track and analyze event performance and ROI to accurately measure results of marketing activities in order to inform event strategy.
Development of solutions to address a variety of complex and multifaceted challenges facing event marketing.
Highly motivated and excited by technology: You always have your finger on the pulse of latest technology & competitive trends.
Ability to thrive in a fast paced, creative environment while actively contributing to a well respected, high functioning group of go-getters.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
