About the role

As the Director of Engagement & Belonging, you will lead the strategy, team, and mechanisms responsible for ensuring Zillow Group’s end-to-end talent processes and programs are equitable, inclusive, and overall conducive to Zillow’s strategic priorities, mission, and values.

Central to Zillow’s priorities, mission, and values is the need to grow and sustain greater diversity, engagement, and performance across our teams. As the E&B Director, you’ll lead initiatives and partner across the People Organization to ensure Zillow’s Talent Strategy is proactively positioning us to attract, retain, develop, and enhance the performance of top talent from around the world. You’ll do this by bringing:

1) High proficiency and experience in the field of global HR

2) Deep subject matter expertise on DEIB theory, practice, and progress

3) Servant-leadership and coaching mentality for your direct reports.

Initiatives and workstreams you will lead in your first 12 months include:

Design and implement mechanism to seed and sustain DEIB strategy across Zillow’s talent processes and programs, on an ongoing basis DEIB capability-building as part of Executive Development and for People Org Leaders, HRBPs, and program owners Design and lead consistent method for DEIB goals and measurements within Org Health program, Zillow Group Engagement Survey, executive and manager assessments, and other employee data programs Zillow Group’s DEIB in Global Cloud HQ Playbook Zillow Group’s Employee Resource Group (ERG) three-year operational roadmap

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategies and action plans to achieve cross-functional and enterprise-wide objectives. Ensure alignment with Zillow's overall mission and goals.

Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse, highly engaged, and high-performing team. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages professional growth and development.

Project Oversight: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of key projects owned by your team. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners. Act as a key liaison between E&B and other teams across Zillow.

Performance Management: Monitor and evaluate the People Success Department’s performance. Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Budget Management: Develop and manage the departmental budget. Ensure financial resources are allocated effectively to support strategic priorities.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $167,900.00 - $268,100.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

  • Effective Communicator: Excellent verbal, nonverbal, and written communication skills across multiple channels and in multicultural contexts. Able to adjust communication style in alignment with different audiences, needs, and modalities.

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex qualitative and quantitative data, use data to make informed decisions. Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Collaborative: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and build trusting relationships with partners.

  • Innovative: Ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to complex challenges.

  • Love of Learning and Teaching: This role requires ongoing learning and study to stay current, and a talent and appreciation for teaching people at all levels and through various modalities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working in fields of Human and Talent Development, Culture, Communications, or Psychology, with at least five years in a leadership role and at least three years in formal DEIB role.

  • Deep knowledge and high proficiency in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI&B) principles and practices.

  • Demonstrated experience leading change among executives and senior leaders.

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and team leadership.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and negotiate with partners at all levels.
