ABOUT THE ROLE AND THE TEAM:

The Knot Worldwide is seeking a Creative Director to lead creative strategy and execution across our global consumer portfolio—including The Knot, Wedding Wire, Hitched, Bodas, Matrimonio, and Mariages.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Global Creative, you'll provide strategic creative leadership and portfolio oversight, ensuring our brands deliver cohesive, culturally relevant storytelling that deepens engagement across US and International markets. You'll lead a distributed team of designers, copywriters, and creative leads while partnering with Marketing, Product, and Regional stakeholders to balance brand consistency with local market resonance.This role requires both big-picture strategic thinking and hands-on creative leadership. You'll establish creative vision, build scalable systems, and foster a high-performing culture that elevates craft, encourages innovation, and drives measurable impact across paid, organic, CRM, and experiential touchpoints.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Creative Leadership

  • Define and advance the creative vision for TKWW's consumer brand portfolio, ensuring visual and verbal identity systems evolve with cultural relevance while maintaining brand integrity
  • Lead creative strategy development for integrated campaigns, partnering with cross-functional leaders to translate business objectives into compelling creative expressions
  • Provide portfolio-level oversight of brand health, identifying opportunities to strengthen visual consistency, storytelling quality, and creative differentiation across markets
  • Champion creative excellence across the organization, articulating the strategic value of design and copy decisions to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Establish creative standards, systems, and frameworks that enable teams to work efficiently without compromising craft or innovation

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of designers and copywriters across US and International brands, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and creative excellence
  • Provide strategic direction and actionable feedback that elevates work quality while developing your team's strategic and executional capabilities
  • Build talent pipelines and lead hiring for critical creative roles, ensuring the team has the skills and capacity to deliver against ambitious portfolio demands
  • Partner with Creative Operations to optimize workflows, resource allocation, and production processes across a complex, multi-brand environment
  • Act as a culture carrier, creating visibility for creative contributions and championing initiatives that support professional development and team recognition

Cross-Functional Partnerships & Influence

  • Serve as the senior creative partner to Marketing, Product, and Regional leads—contributing strategic perspective to campaign development, product launches, and brand initiatives
  • Lead creative collaboration with International stakeholders, ensuring global brand consistency while respecting local market insights and cultural nuances
  • Build and manage relationships with external creative partners (agencies, production companies, freelancers), ensuring quality standards and seamless integration with internal teams
  • Present creative strategies and rationale to executive leadership, making compelling cases for creative investment and brand evolution
  • Leverage performance data, consumer insights, and cultural trends to inform creative strategy and measure impact

Creative Innovation & Excellence

  • Stay ahead of creative, cultural, and platform trends—bringing fresh perspectives that keep our brands relevant and differentiated
  • Champion experimentation with emerging tools and technologies (AI, automation, new formats) to unlock efficiency and expand creative possibilities
  • Ensure all creative work meets brand standards for storytelling quality, inclusivity, craft excellence, and strategic alignment
  • Lead key creative reviews and concept development sessions, raising the bar for creative thinking across the portfolio
  • Balance hands-on contribution with strategic oversight—jumping in to guide or execute when needed while maintaining portfolio-level perspective

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES HAVE:


  • 10+ years of creative experience with demonstrated progression from execution to strategic leadership, ideally in-house
  • Proven track record leading creative strategy across multiple brands, markets, or business lines
  • Deep expertise in brand systems, multi-channel storytelling, socially-native paid creative, and translating business strategy into creative vision
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional taste, conceptual thinking, and ability to maintain brand integrity while driving evolution
  • Experience leading and developing creative teams, with a coaching mindset that balances empathy with high standards
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to influence senior stakeholders and defend creative decisions with strategic rationale
  • Strategic thinker who can balance portfolio-level vision with tactical execution needs
  • Collaborative leadership style that builds trust across functions and geographies
  • Experience working in complex, matrixed organizations with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity for creating inclusive creative that resonates across diverse audiences and markets
